Le Grand Club Ireland offers members, the option of escaping for thoroughly memorable, free rounds of golf, at Le Prieuré Golf & Country Club, in the beautiful Sailly wine region, north west of Paris.
Set on the grounds of a 12th Century Monastery, in the majestic Vexin Regional National Park, Le Prieuré regarded as one of the finest, private golf clubs in the Paris region and is guaranteed to delight.
With two championship golf courses, an outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis courts, an indoor training center and a bridge club, Le Prieuré offers a truly enchanting destination for you, your family and your friends.
In the twelfth century, King Louis VII gave the land to Grandmountains monks. After clearing the land, they settled there and built the Priory Monscient-Fontaine.
In the sixteenth century, the monks could not support the occupation any further and so the Priory was abandoned and the land was leased out. The situation remained until the land was adapted for the recreational sport of golf by the local farmers.
The sports association was created in 1963, and the club moved into renovated buildings, while the surrounding fields are remodeled by Fred Hawtree to equip the club with two very beautiful courses, right from the outset.
Le Prieuré then became very quickly one of the biggest and most highly regarded clubs in the Paris region, both through the quality of its course, as a results of its staff, and through its ability to reveal young talents.
