The Amateur Golf World Cup first ran in Ireland in 2017 with Pat Kelly & Willie Barry both from Palmerstown House Estate GC winning the overall prize of an all expenses paid trip to Cadiz, Spain, to represent the island of Ireland at the International World Finals.
After what was a warmly received and hard fought competition in 2017, Le Grand Club Ireland has decided to continue with the event for 2018 with the winners of the Irish Finals this time to be sent to Mauritius to compete in the International World Finals.
There will be 8 open qualifying competitions held in Ireland, both North & South, at different Le Grand Club Ireland partner golf courses. These qualifiers will be held between March the 17th, 2018 and May the 13th, 2018, with the Irish final to be held at the end of May, all in time for the June World finals.
A €25 competition fee applies per person, with special green fee rates currently being negotiated with Le Grand Club Ireland partner courses. Prizes will as ever reward golf enthusiasts with outings across Le Grand Club Ireland courses, all of which are rated as the very best in Ireland.
In the mean-time, it might be worth giving serious consideration to playing some winter golf this year, so that swings are kept in shape for the early start of next year’s much anticipated Amateur Golf World Cup. If so, enjoy.
